The Arts at Grace will proudly present its seventh Young Artists Concert, on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at 3 pm at Grace Holy Spirit Church, 13 Court Street, in Cortland. Admission is free. A reception will follow the performance.

This year's concert features eleven talented performers from area high schools, including singers Kayla Holl, Breanna Jones, Lucia Helgren, Kendra Walkuski, Margaret Hoeschele, and Kaitlyn Newman, pianists Hannah Zhang, Antonio Triana, and Annie Steve, saxophonist Strawberry Wilcox, and trombonist Ben Mayberry. Richard Montgomery will accompany. The repertoire will range from classics such as "Ombra mai fu" by Handel and "Polonaise in C sharp minor" by Chopin, to Broadway and pop tunes including "My New Philosophy" and "Somewhere Out There," and folk song arrangements.

The performance will also feature musicians from Cortland area schools who have pursued further study or professional work in music. This year, Emmanuel Sikora and Josh Oxford will play their own compositions. Both are pianist/composers. Oxford is a graduate of Ithaca College and Sikora of Queens College.

Artistic Director David Neal will conclude the afternoon by briefly interviewing the performers. Neal says that of all the concerts presented by The Arts at Grace, this is one of the series' most meaningful. "It's so important for young performers to perform for an audience their developing artistry and understands the hard work that goes into becoming a musician. They will carry the support of the community with them as they perform in venues outside of Cortland. The audience is a key part of this process."

The Arts at Grace is a community outreach of Grace and Holy Spirit Church supported by individuals, businesses, organizations, and foundations from the greater Cortland community, including CNY Arts/NYSCA, Cortland Community Foundation, and the Wilkins Foundation.
